Signs in Infants:

We usually see:

  • shallow latch

  • colic

  • reflux

  • excessive gas

  • dimpling of cheeks when suckling

  • lip blisters

  • clicking noises while eating

  • high palate

  • gagging

  • unsuccessful weight gain.

Moms usually report painful breastfeeding, repetitive bouts of mastitis and thrush, and ultimately a decrease in milk production.

All of these struggles tend to lead to the discontinuation of breast feeding.
